It has been reported this week that LG Electronics Inc have released a statement regarding a US International Trade Commission Judgment in its favour.

The dispute arose over the sale of refrigerators by LG which Whirlpool claim infringes its patent. The patent relates to ice storage compartments located in refrigerator doors. Initially Whirlpool were relying on five patent applications but has since withdrawn four of these.

The ruling is said to have been made a US International Trade Commission Judge who had been asked to consider the patent and whether the use made by LG of ice compartments infringed the patent. It is reported that this decision will be final unless appealed by Whirlpool.
