UK IPO announces China IP Roadshow next week

The UK Intellectual Property Office has announced a UK wide intellectual property roadshow run by Tom Duke. Tom is the UK’s IP Attaché to China since 2011.

The roadshow was inspired by the fast moving development of IP in China.

The roadshow will run from 24th to 26th February (next week) and will be visiting a number of locations with a selection of events covering a wide range of topics which will give attendees practical advice when they are looking to expand their business in China.

The events are as follows:

24th February- London

2nd Anti-Counterfeiting in Designs IP group roundtable for discussions with the IPO CEO John Alty and the IP Attaché Tom Duke. Discussed will be Chinese news and updates. There will be also be a representative from the China British Business Council attending.

24th February-  Oxford

At Oxford Science Park for an evening symposium exploring ways in which businesses can reduce IP risks when collaborating with China. In attendance will be Tom Duke, Senior Vice-President of Intralink Jeremy Shaw as well as Partners from JA Kemp Amanda Simons, Tom Carver and Ben Mooneapillay.

Manchester- 25th February

The China-Britain Business Council and IPO breakfast seminar exploring the IP landscape in China. Topics discussed will include the recent IP developments in China as well as any future reforms coming in the next year.

Edinburgh- 26th February

A seminar will be put on with Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International where a discussion will be made regarding a number of topics including how to mitigate IP risks in research collaborations and technology transfer with China, the key considerations when doing business in the technology sector and the types of IP issues in technology business ventures in China and sector-specific experiences. There will also be the opportunity to have a 1-2-1 meeting with Tom Dukes and the Scottish Enterprise specialist advisers.

Edinburgh- 26th February

An in-depth presentation will be made at the Scotch Whisky Association on business challenges in China.

Three expert speakers will be covering key opportunities and challenges for those looking to expand their business in China at this time. This event is particularly aimed at academics, entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes across the UK. There will be an opportunity to ask questions to the experts about your IP situations.
