One of the most productive and underrated inventions is 50 years old.

The seat belt which was invented by Nils Bohlin was patented in 1958 and within just a few years of this date front seat belts could be seen in cars across Europe and the US.

The invention was commissioned by Volvo for the Nordic market initially before being rolled out across the world.

The seat belt is often forgotten when inventions are discussed and has saved millions of lives.
