A transfer consists of a Community Design application or a registered Community design being transferred from one proprietor to another. Transfers are recorded in the Register upon request. In the case of a multiple application the designs contained in the application may be transferred individually.

A request to file a transfer must include the following information:

the registration number of the Registered Community Design

new holder details

representative details

documents establishing the transfer. The following documents are relevant for this:

an application for registration of the transfer signed by the registered holder or their representative and by the successor in title or their representative;

an application, if submitted by the successor in title, accompanied by a declaration, signed by the registered holder or its representative, that they agree to the registration of the successor in title;

an application accompanied by a completed transfer form or document, signed by the registered holder or their representative and by the successor in title or their representatives.

A fee of €200 per design is required for recording a transfer. However multiple requests may be submitted in the same application, provided that the registered holder and the successor in title are the same in each case and, if so, the maximum fee is capped at €1000.
