Patent examiners wanted by the UK IPO

While many readers on this blog may be new to the world of Intellectual Property, they also may be a number of you that have the required expertise to consider the UK Intellectual Property Office’s latest offerings.

Advertised on their website, they are looking to recruit 2 biotechnology patent examiners to start later this year.

A patent examiner not only have a part in considering new patents and whether they should be granted but they also help companies to innovate and grow by considering any technical and legal aspects that may be a part of the application.

If you are considering this position, there are a number of skills that you will need to have including an in-depth knowledge on biotechnology. They seek people with highly developed analytical and critical skills needed to formulate legal and technical arguments. In addition, strong communication skills are required to ensure that you can fulfil the position.

The position holds a salary currently starting at £27,225 including a £3,000 recruitment and retention allowance.

To apply, you will need to have obtained at least a 2:2 degree in biotechnology.
