MP 3 Players (Apple, Samsung and SanDisk) have been sued for infringement of patents by Texas MP3 Technologies which bought the US patent from two Korean inventors. Patent was sold by Sigma Tel to a patent licensing company but it is not clear to whom these rights were sold. Earlier, Microsoft was ordered to pay $ 1.5 bn in a separate MP3 patent case on a claim that MP3 encoding technology has violated patents.
