Irishman Conor McGregor; a household name who gained his status by conquering the Ultimate Fighting Championship world is currently set for a trademark battle with global brand Mac Cosmetics, in a bid to establish a concatenation of trademarks that are associated with his personal brand. Amid such trademarks disputes which currently stand at eight, McGregor is attempting to register the phrase ‘Mystic Mac’ a nickname it is believed the Irishman was appointed following the correct predictions of his renowned fights in the Octagon.

Following McGregor’s application made to the EU’s Intellectual Property Office, the Cosmetic Company owned by Estée Lauder stepped into the ring to contest such an application on the ground that if McGregor released a range of men’s toiletries it would cause great confusion amongst consumers. It should be noted, that Mac Cosmetics are not standing alone with further opposition stemming from the German-based company Mac Mode on similar grounds. Although, McGregor is not familiar with losing; both Mac Cosmetics and Mac Mode have until June to further evidence and substantiate their cases to the European Union Intellectual Property Office and could prove to be fierce competition for the lightweight champion.
