Who owns your website?

The crucial question is - did you have in anything in writing? Often the fact that you have commissioned the work will not mean you will own the copyright. So the website contractor is often entitled to retain the copyright in the work.
So its important that you clarify the position on owership. In the absence of a contract which contains an express clause which deals with ownership or unless there is something implied in the conduct between the parties - then you won't own the copyright.
So dont be a dummy and get it in writing!
