The rights holders representatives claimed "Securing court orders requiring ISPs [internet service providers] to block access to illegal websites is an accepted and legitimate measure to tackle online copyright infringement," so said Chris Marcich, president of the MPA's European division. "It carefully targets sites whose sole purpose is to make money off the back of other people's content while paying nothing back into the legitimate economy."
The ISPs in question will only block where there has been a court order.
Critics will argue its a case of rights holders chasing their tail; akin to whack-a-mole. On the other hand the rights holders will claim its an essential part of the battle against piracy. They are aware as one closes another one opens but to argue 'do nothing' is giving up to the pirates.
One thing for certain is that the battle will continue.
