Lineup Brewing based in Brooklyn decided to market a beer inspired by Beyoncé. However, this was done without seeking the necessary approbation. ‘Biëryoncé’ beer was concocted by Katarina Martinez, a devoted fan of the celebrity and the owner of the aforementioned brewery. Ms Martinez wanted to pay homage to Beyoncé by creating the pilsner and was aided by the popular singer’s fifth studio album with respect to the branding. Needless to say, both beer and Beyoncé fans were delighted by the end result.

However, it appears that Beyoncé and her legal team were not as jovial about the whole idea as Ms Martinez and her customers. The former’s legal team issued a cease and desist letter to the brewery. The said letter demanded that the brewery discontinue all production of Biëryoncé. Ms Martinez would give her take on the matter and articulated the following to music site, Pitchfork:

“As a Hispanic, female-run business, I am very inspired by her so I thought I’d pay homage… We’re disappointed she didn’t take it as a compliment, but oh well. It was fun while it lasted!”

Following this adverse incident, the brewery went on to rename their pilsner ‘Kätariná’ and confessed on social media late last year that they are still Beyoncé fans.
