Trade Mark law update: The use of the Volvo name in advertisement.

The Advertising Standards Authority has held in favour of a Volvo dealer that the unauthorsied use of the Volvo name by another dealership should be stopped.

The advertisement read: "Volvo Value ANY MODEL OF NEW/ USED VOLVO SUPPLIED Mount Automotive Solutions. The Volvo Centre ".

The rationale underpinning the decision was that this advertisement would misrepresent to the consumer that the dealer in question was authorized to use the Volvo mark when in fact it wasn’t.
