Nivea wins Chinese Trade Mark Battle

Cosmetics company Beiersdorf Group who own the brand 'Nivea' won a major battle in the Chinese courts this week over its trade mark.
The Beijing Second Intermediate People's Court held that the use of a similar term (in chinese) in relation to cosmetics infringed the registered trade mark owned by Beiersdorf Group since 1993.
Despite arguments relating to prior use it is reported that Yingzi Company were ordered to pay 120,000 yaun in damages.
